Large cardiovascular care provider relies on CGM webPRACTICE

November 11, 2020

CGM webPRACTICE is a web-based, or SaaS, practice management system designed for practices to manage all billing and operational needs.

Cardiovascular Consultants relies on the CGM webPRACTICE practice management and profitability suite to optimize billing, claims, and collections

Client profile

Established in 1986, Cardiovascular Consultants, LTD (CVC) is one of the largest providers of cardiovascular medicine in Arizona.

From 12 office locations, the practice provides medical consultations and advanced testing such as vascular and cardiac ultrasound, surgical diagnostics, nuclear cardiology and electrophysiology. Surgical services offered include invasive cardiology, vascular, endovascular and cardiothoracic.

An exemplary practice, CVC has received several laudable awards and designations. The practice is NCQA Accredited in Disease Management and is part of the AHA/ASA/NCQA Heart/Stroke Recognition Program. CVC is also recognized as an ICAEL Accredited Echocardiography Laboratory and an ICANL Accredited Nuclear Cardiology Laboratory. CVC has a total of 55 providers on its staff and a monthly patient volume of over 20,000.

Finding the right solution

CVC has used CompuGroup Medical’s practice management and profitability suite: CGM webPRACTICE to achieve optimized billing workflow, efficient claim management and enhanced collections.

Since the software solution was implemented 13 years ago, CVC has worked with CompuGroup Medical to customize report templates and automate routine billing processes for the practice’s 129 users.

With the advanced features in the user-friendly Scheduler in CGM webPRACTICE, CVC has achieved greater efficiency in scheduling and other front-desk activities that enhance patient flow.

Charged with the responsibility of managing the billing department, Linda Ellis, Director of Billing at CVC says, “CGM webPractice is a user-friendly practice management solution that has everything you need for reporting and claims management in order to manage your practice and your profitability. From streamlining the front-desk and patient flow, through claims management, to reporting. I’ve had opportunities to view demos of other practice management solutions since I joined CVC in 2001 and have found no other solution that comes close.”

With its strong interfacing capabilities to many electronic health record (EHR) solutions, CVC had no difficulty interfacing CGM webPRACTICE with their existing EHR solution to achieve seamless integration of clinical and financial data.

An additional interface to CompuGroup Medical’s own clearinghouse, eMEDIX, delivers the complete package for the effective management of electronic claims, eligibility and remittances. According to Linda, claims are processed within 24 hours in an effective and efficient manner.

Attaining success

Beyond efficiency, CVC has been able to leverage CGM webPRACTICE fully to boost the bottom line.

“Through automation, CGM webPRACTICE has enabled me to downsize my data entry division by eliminating two FTEs so that only one FTE is necessary now for charge entry and posting. The cost savings here are a boost to our profitability,” Linda says.

To complement the revenue enhancing benefits offered by CGM webPRACTICE, CVC utilizes CompuGroup Medical productivity tools to ensure maximum reimbursement.

Serving close to 10 hospitals in the greater metropolitan Phoenix area, CVC ensures that there is no interruption in its business processes by providing remote access to providers through webMobile™. webMobile is a Windows® Mobile-based device application that enables remote access to patient data, hospital lists and appointment schedules.

To maximize the robust billing capability of CGM webPRACTICE, CVC uses webCoder™, a coding analysis and claim scrubbing solution, for automated checks of the validity of codes, National Correct Coding (CCI) edits and Relative Value Unit (RVU) sequencing.

webVerify™, a solution that allows for real-time insurance and benefits eligibility checks for most health plans enhances the practice’s reimbursement rates further.

With CGM webPRACTICE, CVC has billing effectiveness and efficiency down to a science.

A recent third-party audit of the practice’s processes and billing related software placed CVC in the nation’s top 95% of successful practices. Linda cites an impressive monthly average of 23-24 days for account receivables.

The perfect partnership of a great software solution and after-sales service is what makes the collaboration between CompuGroup Medical and CVC so successful.

“I can only describe the support we receive for our solution as excellent. In the past few months the rapport with CompuGroup Medical has only become stronger. Chief Operating Officer, Kent Broström, and Technical Support Manager, Julia Jewell, have been terrific! I couldn’t ask for better service,” Linda says.
