CGM Wins Award for Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy Systems

May 19, 2026

Bologna/Koblenz – CompuGroup Medical (CGM) has been honored as “Best AI Company” with the HUB AI Award at Cosmofarma Exhibition in Bologna, Italy’s leading trade fair for pharmacies. The jury awarded CGM first prize in the “AI Application for Pharmacies” competition for its comprehensive integration of artificial intelligence into pharmacy systems.

The award in Italy adds to further successes for CGM in the pharmacy market: In Germany, CGM LAUER took first place in the category “Best IT Solutions / Best Software” in the Coop Study 2026 conducted by IQVIA and DeutschesApothekenPortal. In a survey of more than 800 pharmacies, CGM LAUER was rated the best IT partner. Back in May 2025, the company launched CGM STELLA, the first fully cloud-based and AI-powered pharmacy software in Germany. The software was initially introduced in the Italian market and, following excellent results, adapted for the German pharmacy market.

“Artificial intelligence at CGM is not a promise for the future, but part of everyday life in pharmacies,” explains Emanuele Mugnani, Managing Director Ambulatory Information Systems Europe at CGM. “The fact that we have been honored with the HUB AI Award in Italy and rated the best IT partner in Germany shows that we are developing innovations that make an impact where they are needed: in the daily care routines of our customers and their patients.”

Prof. (apl.) Dr. med. Daniel Gotthardt, CEO of CompuGroup Medical, says: “We are committed to investing in innovation: 23 percent of our revenue goes into research and development. In 2025 alone, that amounted to 274 million euros. More than 2,700 employees in research and software development at CGM worldwide are working to bring AI into healthcare in an effective and responsible way.”

AI functionalities are already in productive use across all segments of the company: from documentation and telephone assistants to cloud-based medication solutions and clinical imaging data management, through to AI-supported coding and clinical decision support systems.
