At CGM Software Romania, every product tells a story. A story about responsibility. About long-term thinking. About people who choose to stay, learn, and build software that truly matters. 

This article opens Inside CGM RO Products, a blog series dedicated to the products developed in CGM Software Romania. Each article will take a deep dive into one product: how it evolved, why it matters, how it is built, and, most importantly, the people who work on it every day. 

We’re starting with mediCenter, a medical product that evolved quickly and that is still growing. 

On January 21st, 2026, mediCenter reached an important milestone: 7 years of continuous development. 

Over these seven years, the product has obtained several certifications from KBV, the national association responsible for statutory health insurance regulations in Germany. These certifications are not just badges. They represent deep compliance, long-term responsibility, and a constant alignment with evolving national healthcare standards. 

Today, mediCenter is no longer “just” a product. It is a core component of Germany’s digital healthcare ecosystem. 

mediCenter is evolving from a traditional on-premise solution into a modern, cloud-based platform for medication management and prescriptions, tightly integrated with CGM Praxis and the German eHealth infrastructure. 

Its mission is ambitious and very concrete at the same time: 

• enable secure digital prescriptions,
• manage electronic medication lists,
• exchange data seamlessly with the electronic patient record (ePA),
• integrate reliably with external practice systems.

Behind all the technical complexity lies a simple goal: make doctors’ work easier and patients’ care safer. 

Cloud Migration & Architectural Shift 

In 2025, mediCenter went through one of its most important transformations. The product was successfully migrated from an on-premise system to a multi-tenant cloud service, fully integrated with CGM Praxis. 

This transformation included: 

• a new integration architecture with dedicated data storage,
• integration with the CGM Praxis organization service and the TI-facade for multi-tenancy and Telematics Infrastructure connectivity,
• introduction of a micro-frontend architecture to enable faster feature delivery and deeper integration,
• modernization of the QA infrastructure to support end-to-end testing across environments,
• Kafka-based messaging using FHIR R4 base profiles for standardized and reliable data exchange.

Initial Release - Private Practices 

The first production release focused on private practitioners: 

• support for paper prescriptions for privately insured patients,
• creation and maintenance of medication plans directly within mediCenter.

Public Practices & the Foundation of Digital Prescriptions 

The next phase extended mediCenter to public (statutory) practices: 

• electronic prescription issuance with single-signature workflows,
• first version of the electronic medication list (eML),
• implementation of C5-compliant controls and audit logging.

Advanced ePrescription Features & National Certification 

Further development brought: 

• ePA 3.0 certification for the electronic medication list,
• comfort signature for ePrescriptions,
• prescription preview before signing,
• multiple prescriptions issued in a single workflow,
• PDF preview and download of the electronic medication list.

Specialized Clinical Use & Legal Alignment 

mediCenter also proved its flexibility: 

• support for the Fresenius Hub project, extending usage to three dialysis clinics,
• implementation of medication data exports aligned with AVWG 5.7 and BMP 2.7 requirements.

The roadmap for mediCenter continues with equally ambitious plans: 

• full ePA 3.0 integration and synchronization,
• complete migration to the VIA design system,
• opening the platform to external PVS systems via FHIR APIs,
• support for ePrescription 1.3.2,
• upgrades to ePA 3.1 and implementation of the electronic medication plan (eMP),
• extended medication safety (AMTS) integrations.

In short: mediCenter keeps growing. Technically, functionally, and in impact.

Many years later, I work with Angular and build interfaces for doctors and other users to help make people’s lives better. I am passionate about interfaces, design, colors, and combining the pleasant with the useful (from a programming point of view). In my free time, I enjoy making music, photo and video editing, LEGO, and pretty much anything that sparks my creative nerve.”

Iulian Vultur - Frontend Developer 
+2 years in CGM

I have a real passion for coding-building, fixing, and creating projects that come to life, learning something new each time. Outside of work, I prefer spending quality time with my family, relaxing by playing video games, and playing table tennis whenever I get the chance.” 

Andreea Pircalabu - QAA 
+8 years in CGM 

“I have been part of the QAA team at CGM for over 8 years. I am a person who values open communication, supports others, and contributes to a positive and collaborative work environment. On a personal level, I am the kind of person who finds joy in hiking and forest trails, feeling energized and discovering peace while exploring nature. I have a dog and a cat, a mix of chaos and judgment with whom I share my home: a big, fluffy companion who follows me everywhere, and a tiny fluffy one with personality, who only follows me ‘in spirit’… usually when she’s hungry.” 

Sorin Scripcariu - QAA

“I have been in the team for a few weeks now, and so far, my colleagues seem really nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. I’m trying to integrate quickly and get to know everyone better, and I’m looking forward to collaborating on interesting projects. In my free time, I enjoy traveling and discovering new places, watching movies and TV series, and spending quality time with friends.” 

Cristina Pichiu - QAA 
+1 month in CGM 

“A QAA with 6 years of experience, detail-oriented and quality-driven, excited to be part of the team. In my free time: family, creative activities, travel, photography, and videography.” 

mediCenter has grown as a truly multicultural team, with colleagues from China, Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, Serbia, India, Italy, Mexico, Romania, and Germany. 

The product is active on the German market, serving both internal clients such as CGM Praxis and external partners like Fresenius. 

mediCenter is a medical product with a real role in the healthcare ecosystem. Its contribution on the German market has a concrete impact on health outcomes and quality of life, serving as a valuable support for both healthcare professionals and patients. 

By developing this product, we are able to support doctors with a user-friendly tool, equipped with all the necessary functionalities and designed to respond to the real needs of its users. Ease of use is not a “nice to have” in healthcare - it is essential, especially in environments where time, accuracy, and clarity matter every day. 

An equally important aspect is the high level of security mediCenter provides, along with the trust it builds through strict compliance with medical standards and regulations. In healthcare, trust is not assumed. It is earned continuously. mediCenter is built with that responsibility in mind. 

The mediCenter team stands out through a friendly and respectful atmosphere that encourages open communication and effective collaboration. 

The way we work is well organized, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities, contributing to a coherent and predictable workflow. The high level of competence across the team, combined with a constant desire to deliver quality results, creates a solid professional environment. At the same time, the team remains open to new ideas and initiatives, respects different opinions, and values diversity of perspectives. 

Over time, the team’s composition has evolved. Along the way, we’ve had occasional team-building activities and reciprocal visits between colleagues from Romania and Germany, small but meaningful moments that strengthen collaboration beyond day-to-day tasks. 

What unites us is not just the product, but a shared mindset: doing things properly, supporting each other, and building something we can stand behind with confidence. 

In 2026, CGM Software Romania celebrates 10 years. 

If mediCenter were the cake for this anniversary, it would be a pistachio cake. 

Not only because it’s green (although that helps), but because pistachio is rich, distinctive, refined, not something you choose by accident, and not for everyone. It reflects a taste for complexity, balance, and depth. Much like building regulated healthcare software over many years, with care, patience, and consistency. 

mediCenter is not just a product with a roadmap. It is the result of years of accumulated knowledge, trust, certifications, and countless decisions made carefully, often behind the scenes. 

It is built by people who understand that in healthcare, “good enough” is never enough. By teams who value long-term impact over short-term wins. By engineers, QA specialists, and architects who know that what they build today may influence patient care tomorrow. 

And this is exactly what CGM Software Romania stands for.
