When Christopher Roy Turner, General Manager at CGM Software Romania, joined the company four and a half years ago, he didn’t just bring a job description with him, he brought a vision. One that turned a growing local hub into The Center of Expertise for Software Development in CGM, building world-class software products that impact millions of patients and healthcare professionals every single day.

The kind of leader who came with a mission: to prove, to grow, and to inspire.

We sat down with Chris for a candid, honest, slightly philosophical and occasionally funny talk about growth, people, leadership, and why now might just be your CGMoment to join and create the future of eHealth together with us.  

Our secret: The human engine behind technology

Chris, CGM Software Romania continues and continues to grow. What’s behind this steady upward curve? 

CGM Software Romania keeps growing because Romania simply has extraordinary people. Talented, smart, curious, hardworking people who come with strong backgrounds, diverse experiences, and an incredible drive to build meaningful things. That’s our biggest secret: the human engine behind technology. 

Another reason is trust. Over almost ten years, we’ve proven to the global organization that choosing Romania wasn’t just a good decision; it was a strategic one. We didn’t just grow, we earned our place as a key location in the CGM ecosystem and showed real, measurable impact. 

And of course, let’s not forget the industry we’re in. Healthcare is an ever-expending sector and is evolving faster than ever, especially in this AI era. And it matters. It has purpose. It saves lives. When technology moves this fast, you want to be in a place that’s not just keeping up but actively shaping the future. If you could describe the current stage of CGM Software Romania in one word, what would it be and why? 

If I had to choose one word to describe where we are today, it would be proven. CGM Romania has proved itself and is ready to keep proving. We’ve proven that opening a hub in Romania was one of the best decisions. We’ve proven that we build excellence, that we make projects better, and that we deliver value that truly matters. And we’re not done. We’re hungry for more, and we’re ready to keep proving every single day. 

Being ‘proven’ doesn’t mean we’ve reached the finish line. It means we’ve built a foundation strong enough to dream bigger. It means we’ve earned trust, we’ve earned respect, and now we get to build the future with even more confidence. This stage is exciting because it’s no longer about Can we do it? We already showed we can. Now it’s about How far can we go together? And honestly… we’re just warming up.

In your view, what makes CGM Software Romania one of the most desired IT companies to work for? 

For me, the biggest reason CGM Software Romania is such a desired place to work is the people. Good people want to work with good people. And here, that’s truly the case. I know it sounds like a cliché, but I genuinely miss the team when I’m away. There’s a real energy and excitement in coming to the office and seeing colleagues who inspire you. That hasn’t been like this in every role in my career, and it says a lot about the culture we’ve built here. 

Second, our work has purpose. We’re not just building software, we’re building healthcare solutions that improve lives. When you truly understand the impact your work has on doctors, hospitals, and patients, everything becomes more meaningful. It’s not ‘just another tech company.’ It’s technology with purpose. 

And equally important: stability and growth. People need to feel safe to do their best work, and CGM offers that. Over the years, I’ve seen colleagues grow across teams, across technologies, even into completely new roles. And not just technically, but from a human perspective. That combination of stability, opportunity, and human development is rare, and it’s a huge reason why people choose to stay and why others want to join. 

 

We hear a lot about ‘employer branding’ these days. For you, what’s the difference between simply having a brand and truly living it? 

Well, I think the difference is walking the talk, right? That's basically it. We simply talk with our employees. We discuss it real, and we have uncomfortable conversations all the time. So, I think the fact that we just treat our colleagues with respect and as adults, in which return I think we get respect.  

And the other thing is the fact that we have way more events than we post about. So, I think that's a big one as well. We don't post 100% of our parties because we want people to think that we have many parties. We occasionally post a fun event. Because we feel that it's a good thing to post in that moment. But we have so many more things happening in the background that we're not doing it for show; we're doing it for the people. I think that's different. The intention is not to market and brand; the intention is to create and sustain. 

 

Where do you see CGM Software Romania heading in the next few years? What excites you most about what’s coming? 

For the next few years, the direction is clear: growth. We will welcome more colleagues, take on more opportunities, and continue strengthening our role inside the CGM Group. A very tangible milestone for me is crossing 250 CGMers in 2026 and then heading toward 300 the year after. Not because numbers are everything, but because each new colleague represents more expertise, more innovation, and more impact on healthcare tech. 

Of course, growth comes with challenges, and that’s exactly what excites me. Scaling means creating new leaders, empowering more voices, and evolving our ways of working as we become an even more mature and enterprise-driven organization. Change is inevitable, but progress is intentional. And I’m genuinely excited to see how we rise to this next chapter together. 

“We`re not looking for rockstars or big egos. We are looking for human beings”

When you think about the next generation of CGMers, what kind of professionals do you hope to attract? 

Mature, well-intended, good people. I just want to be surrounded by good people. And I want all the CGMers to be surrounded by good people, like them. I’m not looking for ‘rockstars’ or big egos. I’m looking for human beings. People who want to grow, and who also want to help others grow. In our world, excellence comes with humility and ambition comes with kindness. That’s the CGM vibe. 

We want colleagues who show up for their team, who stay curious, who care about the impact they make and the people they work with. Skills are important, of course, but character, mindset, and attitude are what really shape a healthy, successful culture. If you’re someone who strives to be better every day and lifts others along the way, you’ll feel right at home here.

If you had to finish this sentence “At CGM, we don’t just build software, we…”, how would you complete it? 

At CGM, we don’t just build software, we allow people to unlock. More than they think is in them. We grow people. Sometimes you arrive with one skill set, one view of yourself, and suddenly you realize you’re capable of much more: leading, innovating, influencing, shaping real healthcare solutions. That’s the magic that happens when you’re surrounded by the right environment, the right leadership, and the right team. 

The truth is, if you join CGM, you grow. In skills, in mindset, in confidence. You stretch, you learn, you experiment, you get support, and you become a stronger version of yourself. We don’t just invest in products; we invest in people. And that changes everything. 

 

And finally, what’s the one message you’d like to send to anyone reading this who’s considering joining CGM? 

What are you waiting for? Just give it a shot. You have nothing to lose. We are not perfect (what company is?), but what makes CGM special is that we are well-intended, transparent, and constantly improving. Together. We acknowledge challenges, we talk about them honestly, and we work to solve what’s in our control while striving to influence what isn’t. If you’re curious, if you want to grow, if you want to be part of a place that genuinely tries to do things the right way, then come and see for yourself.
