Nearly two-thirds of Czechs help their relatives with health care

Prague, 25 February 2016 - More than 67 % of Czechs help at least one of his relatives with health care, accompanies him to the doctor, or arranges visits to the doctor for him. If it were possible to make an appointment online they would not have to worry, thinks the majority (62%). It emerged from the survey conducted in February by the company STEM / MARK for CompuGroup Medical (CGM).

Solidarity with relatives is really presented in the Czech Republic, at least as far as health care is concerned. Respondents confirm assistance to someone close, 28 % reported that they even take care of 2 or more persons. Most often people help their partner or parents (33-34 %). Other people that need help, of course, are children (15 %) and grandparents (15 %).

The survey also showed that 35 % of respondents experience the longest waiting at GP. Generally, various activities at the GP are the most time consuming for 54 % of respondents. Taking care of relatives usually takes about an hour per month, says 39 % of the respondents, 36 % reported that this activity takes them an hour and more per month.

Czechs try to manage to accompany the relatives to the doctor in a way which does not affect their work (73 %). One quarter of respondents spend hour or more per month on the telephone with physicians. Almost two thirds of respondents (62 %) would really welcome the possibility of making an appointment electronically. Online consultations would appreciate 39 % of respondents. “People who take care of their relatives especially appreciate the time saving opportunities offered by electronic services in healthcare. For example, making appointment online lasts a very short time compared with the time when a person tries to call the doctor,” says Lenka Volfová, Head of Marketing of the company CompuGroup Medical.

A survey was conducted by the agency STEM/MARK among more than 500 respondents in February 2016.
