Czechs lack electronic communication in the surgeriesCzechs lack electronic communication in the surgeries
According to a recent medical research, most of the Czechs would like to use more their doctor’s online services

Prague, 21st August 2014 – According to a recent research, Czechs are missing online services for communication with their doctors. The vast majority of respondents were in favour of possibility of online making appointments, consultations, examination results or prescriptions.

Four out of five respondents would like to use electronic communication for online making appointment and a similarly large group of the Czech users would welcome the possibility of online prescription or viewing their examination results. Over 80% respondents are convinced this kind of communication is advantageous and the interest in such services is higher among the respondents with higher level of education and rather from larger cities. Only 2% of respondents found it disadvantageous.

„The research has shown us that Czech users use the internet and electronic communication primarily to seek information, communication with friends and other online services. However when communicating with doctors, they lack the comfort similar to online banking or shopping,“ says Lenka Volfová, Head of Marketing of CompuGroup Medical Czech Republic and adds: „It is obvious from the respondents‘ answers that they would be pleased if doctors and medical facilities offered them such option, which is available on the market.“

Electronic communication currently allows the patients to make appointment right into the doctor’s calendar, consulting their health condition, receiving examination results and other medical reports or online prescription. At the moment, such complex services are exclusively provided by the CGM LIFE eSERVICES solution.

Also the Czechs would not mind if this kind of service was chargeable. Even though this would decrease the number of respondents willing to use the service to less than 25%, another half of them stated their decision would depend on the fee. 75% of respondents would prefer to only pay for actually used services and executed actions.

„We see that Czech patients are starting to realize their role and increasing importance in health care system. Health care is increasingly being seen as a service and the Czechs expect that, in addition to quality health care, they get better services, such is online communication,“ adds Lenka Volfová of CGM company, which is behind the development of CGM LIFE eSERVICES.

The research for CompuGroup Medical Czech Republic was prepared by STEM/MARK agency, being performed from 26th to 30th July 2014 with 509 respondents.
