Electronic Health Card and Telematics Infrastructure: Physicians Want the Future Now
CompuGroup Medical and Gematik announce that all physicians and hospitals in the Northern/Western test region are on board!

Koblenz, March 16th, 2015: For the planned testing of the most secure and future communication network in the German healthcare sector, the Telematics Infrastructure (TI) was able to acquire all 500 test practices and clinics in the northern/western test region required for CompuGroup Medical before the planned deadline and also performed the first full test on the update of the insurants’ master data for the electronic health card (eGK). Now, nothing stands in the way of additional tests for eGK functions and the telematics infrastructure as the future secure communication network for the German healthcare sector.

The highly successful course of acquisition can certainly be attributed to the customer-oriented sales and service structures of CGM, but also especially to the physicians’ enthusiasm. They look forward to expanding your knowledge and benefiting from these technological advantages.

Nearly three quarters of a year after beginning the campaign to acquire participants for the largest networking project in the German healthcare sector, all contracts for the required 500 service providers in the northern/western test region for the testing of the telematics infrastructure were completed. The acquisition of general practitioners, dentists, psychotherapists and hospitals as well as equipping them with all components and services necessary for the use of the eGK is part of the project commissioned by the “Gesellschaft für Telematikanwendungen der Gesundheitskarte mbH (gematik)” at the end of 2013 from the consortium consisting of CompuGroup Medical, Strategy& and KoCo Connector.

In a preliminary live test, the required newly-developed components and services for the online use of the eGK could be tested. Here, the first update of the insurants’ master data for the electronics health card could be successfully tested in cooperation with a hospital. Thus it was verified that the components and services developed by the consortium are perfectly harmonized.

“We’ve clearly noticed that we are very positively received by physicians in the test regions”, said Dr. Arno Elmer, General Manager of gematik. “This confirms their interest in the cross-sectoral networking of the entire health care system to further improve patient care.”

“From many conversations, we have a distinct impression that the physicians have an overall favorable perception of the future telematics infrastructure and the project”, said Uwe Eibich, General Manager of CompuGroup Medical Deutschland AG. In his opinion, the quick acquisition of participants is largely due to the long-standing confidence in the market and existing sales and service structures of the product lines offered by CompuGroup Medical. The sales and service partners have the best direct access to the users through their regional connections. This partner network possesses the optimal conditions for the close involvement in the acquisition, installation, hotline and technical service within the framework of testing the telematics infrastructure.

“Gratitude is also owed to the physicians’ and dentists’ associations in our test region”, said Eibich, “they have greatly contributed to this success by offering their valuable suggestions and active support.” The physicians’ representatives expect further improvements in medical treatment, cooperation between various specialty areas and the long-term financing of high level treatment in Germany due to the soon to be implemented telematics infrastructure.

After the acquisition of participants was performed better than planned and quite satisfactorily, there is nothing left standing in the way of a successful online rollout testing the first stage of the telematics infrastructure in the northern/western test region. The intense preparation, training and certification of technicians, hotline employees, sales- and service partners are already well underway.
