Shared Vision for Healthcare in Rhineland-Palatinate: Health Minister Alexander Schweitzer Visits CGM AG in Koblenz during his Summer Trip

Koblenz –September 5th, 2014: The Health Minister of Rhineland-Palatinate, Alexander Schweitzer, visited CompuGroup Medical AG (CGM), one of the leading eHealth companies worldwide. With this visit, he obtained an overview of the progress of future secure networks for the healthcare sector as well as the Telematic Infrastructure, for which CGM, among others in Rhineland-Palatinate, is responsible.

In the discussions hosted in the CompuGroup Medical Headquarters, the current status of the Telematic Infrastructure tests was one of the main topics. Rhineland-Palatinate is the region, for which the Koblenz-based company – together with other partners – is developing, organizing and building up a test network for the future expansion of this secure network throughout Germany in the healthcare sector. Minister Schweitzer was glad to learn that all developments and milestones on the industrial side had been met, and was also impressed by the high number of physicians – especially in Rhineland-Palatinate – who were willing to take part in this groundbreaking project as testers. “My conversations with physicians confirm this. They know exactly how much potential lies in intersectoral networking and are also becoming increasingly more comfortable in the digital world”, said Schweitzer.

“Networking” was the main word when discussing possible future projects for Rhineland-Palatinate in Koblenz. The topics of safe drug therapy and a closer connection between doctors and hospitals also played an especially important role in the discussions. Frank Gotthardt, Chief executive Office of CGM AG, shared the Minister’s opinion that there is great need for the implementation of these issues and emphasized that: “Even if the healthcare industry in Germany follows market principles, the integration with politics through numerous regulations increases significantly. This also constitutes a great responsibility to the people, among others, and I am therefore particularly pleased that we, in Rhineland-Palatinate, are in close contact with policy makers.”

At the end of his visit, Minister Schweitzer was quite impressed by CGM’S Health Event, which took place on the same day on company premises with numerous sports activities. This event was a part of CGM’S extensive workplace health management and offered all employees the opportunity to learn about new sports activities or get an overview of their own fitness. "This is part of our identity as a modern company," said Oliver Bruzek, Vice President of Public Affairs at CGM, "and as a company in the healthcare industry, we believe it is important to lead by example.”
